It also plays a big role in simple manual operations as well. The full head press in its simple form with a hand slide table is used to cut material from sheets. The dies can be hand placed, mounted to the bridge, or on the table blade up. In the first two cases, the cutting pad is on the slide table of the press. The material to be cut is placed on the cutting pad. The cutting dies are placed on top of the material. The bridge then pushes the dies through the material from the top. In the third case, the die is on the table cutting edge up. This way it does not have to be handled if it is large and heavy. The material to be cut goes on top of the die. The pad is mounted to the bridge. In general one cuts large parts with large dies out of sheets of material. The press should be big enough for the dies and have enough cutting force. Various feed systems can be adapted to the presses as well as pad shifting devices.

USA Series Hydraulic High Speed Presses - The High Speed Press is normally part of an automated cutting system. The bed size can be 12”X12” or smaller. It can also be very large (40”X63” or larger). The material can come in sheets but most often it is web feed or from rolls. The cutting force can range from 12 tons to 300 tons. The most common feeding system is inboard and outboard pinch rolls. Other feeding systems that are available include clamping beam feed, sliding tables, inboard and outboard grippers, and cutting belts. The cutting surface can be pad on pad shifter or hardened and ground steel plate. The cutting tools can be steel rule or male/female dies. In front of the machine there can be unwind stands or laminating stations. After cutting the machine can have knock out stations, matrix rewinds, or robotic arms that can do pick and place.
